Suzanne Rynders
Biographical Sketch

Suzanne has lived on the Central Coast since 1998. She moved from Hawaii to be with her new husband, Jerry, who is an engineer and a photographer.

Suzanne grew up in England surrounded by all the wonderful European art. She went to medical school and art school in London, and moved to the States in 1971. She now works as a pediatrician in Santa Maria.

Over the years, she has worked with oil, watercolor and acrylic, and more recently, pastels. They all have their place in her heart.

She says “Living in the environs of the Central Coast, it is hard to pick a favorite area to paint. The coastal scenes have a special magnetism, and the hills of the wine districts are a close second. For a while, a sizeable orchid collection was favored, but change is important. My attention has moved on to more landscapes, and a looser style.”

Her favorite artists at the moment are two landscape artists: Wolf Kahn and Ray Ellis.

Suzanne has enjoyed showing her work at the SLO Art Center and Town Center Gallery in Santa Maria.
She now attends classes at Hancock College.
