"Tessellations, Fractals and Geometric Constructions," mathematical art by Fred Ventura, will be on display during the Month of March in the Shepard Hall Gallery, located in the Santa Maria Public Library on South Broadway, two blocks south of Main Street. This show has been organized in support of Pi Day, March 14th (3.14) in order to encourage the creative exploration of mathematics.

Fred is an educational software developer with a background in mathematics instruction. He works in a variety of media, but for this show will focus primarily on digital techniques.

Fred has a Ph.D. in education from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where is also studied painting and drawing as an undergraduate. His math software products have been presented at educational technology conferences through out the United States and his products are used in many elementary, middle and high schools.

Fred serves on the Board of Directors for ARTS Obispo as treasurer and is a member of several other local arts organizations.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The library is closed on Sundays.
