Julie Jensen

Julie Jensen ( AKA Julie Ray) is a self taught artist who began painting in October, 1999.

She works in the mediums of watercolor, acrylic and mixed media.

Her artwork reflects her affinity with angels, faeries and Native American images of the ghost dance era. However, anything bold and colorful can be a subject of Julie’s painting.

At this point in time she finds herself drawn to the images of folkloric and flamenco dancers.

You may have seen Julie’s work at such venues as the Chumash Tribal Health Clinic where her work was exhibited for one year , The University Gallery, Town Center Gallery, Tri-counties Blood Bank, Café Monet, Slender Lady or you may have simply seen her chalking a square at Santa Maria‘s annual Grapes and Grain Festival.

Aside from painting Julie was also the Recovery Art Program Coordinator for Good Samaritan Services and she has participated in planning Santa Maria’s annual Mental Health Art Show. She believes Art is a great vehicle for healing, self expression, self esteem and self discovery, and finds her art path seems to always cross paths with the rehabilitation community of Santa Maria where she has worked with alcohol/drug recovery, mental health, Juvenile Hall, victims of domestic violence and the children involved.

Julie lives along California’s Central Coast with her husband Ray Jay and their two boxer dogs, Geraldine and Jonah. She works full time as a child specialist.
