John Card was born and raised in the Big Sky Country of Montana. At an early
age he expressed an interest and a desire for drawing. John continued to
pursue this creative endeavor as a hobby when he moved to California Central Coast
and began a career as a land surveyor. But on retirement, art became much
more than a spare time diversion. John enrolled in drawing classes at Allan
Hancock Community College and two years later took the leap into watercolor and
a year later into acrylics. When asked about his art John replied, "I
find all of these mediums demanding but very relaxing and fulfilling. I
enjoy the association with other artists in the area who all seem to share so
easily new ideas and experiences. I am also associated with the Town Center Gallery
of Santa Maria and a member of the Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley."
