  About the Artist

Deborah L. Hildinger was born in Williamsville, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, on October 8, 1951. A true Libra, Deborah has been involved within the creative arts since she was a small child. Her mother recognized her daughter's talent and always made sure that Craypas and compressed charcoal along with numerous sheets of blank paper were readily available for her to draw upon. While in the second grade at Smallwood Drive Elementary School in Snyder, NY, her tempera painting showing children of different nationalities holding hands was on the cover of School Art magazine.

Throughout elementary, junior and high school, Deborah always took as many art classes as her schedule would allow. Once in college, she majored in Art hoping to find a career within this field. In 1973, she graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking. In 1974 she began doing art festivals and has continued until the present time to participate within this venue. Through the years she has won numerous awards and is represented in permanent collections throughout the state of Florida.

In 1979 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a double major of Printmaking and Painting. Deborah has worked within a variety of mediums from the numerous disciplines of printmaking including: intaglio, stone and plate lithography, wood cuts and engravings, embossing, viscosity printing, chin collé, monoprints and serigraphy, to oil and acrylic painting, pastels and digital imagery.

After living in Central Florida for over twenty years Deborah moved to Santa Maria, California in the spring of 2004. Her current work involves the California landscape for her colorful impressionistic acrylic paintings, while her digital imagery continues to focus on her personal impressions of friends and family and places of interest.
