My dad taught me to look at nature with an artist's eye even before I knew what
I was suppose to look at as an artist. The many different sizes and shapes of
a tree are easily seen but the many shades of green and uniqueness of a tree were
lessons to learn. I have drawn and doodled since childhood. I am self-taught,
and the use of canvas, and real paints instead of pencil or crayon is fairly new
to me. I've been a busy mom of 4 boys and had a working career in Hospital Administration.
Not much time for what I called a hobby. From working off the kitchen table to
my first wobbly easel has been 20 years, but just in the last 4 years have I developed
and equipped a studio. I now realize it is more of a passion than a hobby. I devote
each day to the love of life; seeing nature in all its splendor, smelling the
roses (as the saying goes) and painting.
